The Leonardo da Vinci project "e-learning hybrid moulds" unites European partner institutions from Belgium, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia towards an ambitious end result.
The Goal of the project consists of the development of a new training methodology for vocational training on plastic mould development that includes the correlation of the courses, seminars/workshops and testing systems of existing conventional tooling, ICT knowledge, recent high tech sintering and high speed milling technologies.
- It proposes an innovative approach of the teaching method using an e-learning training system and a virtual laboratory
- It supposes the setting up of tools in order to implement this innovative approach.
- Our system of conventional training on conventional mould development uses a fundamental didactical need, determined by the particularities of mould development principles: the lack of an intuitive support from High Tech mould applications as SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) or HSM (High Speed Milling). The conventional modalities do not ensure a convenient intuitive support in order to understand the phenomena.
- The educational and vocational have to create favourable and friendly environments for employed and unemployed people to fully benefit from new technologies. The proposed project is completely in line with this goal.
The research methodology can shortly be divided into the following steps:
- Collection of all available training material on conventional mould development, e-learning, SLS and HSM.
- Development of an e-learning training system & virtual laboratory, involving courses, video cases, seminars & workshops and the implementation of a testing system and case studies.
- Running training test cases in collaboration with vocation training institutes and SME's.
The most important expected results are:
- Design and development of preparatory module courses for the primary target group who want to use the tools developed by the project.
- A web-site that can be accessed by intranet or internet by all the participants involved in this project.
The first frame will be completed in the first six months of the project proceeding and updated every three months. The website will operate in English. Possible translation into the languages of the partners is foreseen. The site is addressed to the target group and to the public.
- Design, development and testing of e-learning tools for module courses, video presentations and self-assessments, published on de site (and later on also on CD), using multimedia software. These tools, presentations and assessments will be produced in English.
The courses are gradually designed and organised in a beginner and advanced level.
- The development of the infrastructure for the site, the virtual laboratory and the training system. This will be developed in the first six project months.
